CUPRA’s new Raval is arriving in Ireland, with prices starting from a very competitive €23,495 including current Government grants and incentives. To mark its introduction, CUPRA Ireland will bring the new compact electric car to retailers around the country as part of a series of CUPRA Night events running from late September into early October. The evenings will give potential customers their first opportunity to get up close with the Raval while also featuring music, refreshments and a selection of launch offers.
The Raval becomes CUPRA’s most affordable model and represents an important addition to its growing electric line-up. Designed primarily with urban driving in mind, it packages the Spanish brand’s more sporting design philosophy into a smaller and considerably more accessible EV. Irish buyers will have a choice of five versions, with two battery sizes, outputs ranging from 116hp all the way to 226hp and a maximum WLTP driving range of 443 kilometres.
Even the entry-level Raval Urban V1 comes with a healthy level of standard equipment. Its €23,495 starting price includes a 37kWh battery and 116hp electric motor, delivering a claimed WLTP range of up to 311 kilometres. Standard equipment includes a 12.9-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit, climate control, Keyless Go and full LED headlights. Buyers also get 17-inch alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, rear parking sensors and an illuminated CUPRA badge at the rear.
Moving up to the Urban V2 brings a slightly more powerful 135hp electric motor while retaining the 37kWh battery. Range actually increases slightly to 326 kilometres under WLTP testing, while the €28,960 price brings some useful additional equipment. This includes larger 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear-view camera, heated front seats and keyless entry, making it a more comprehensively equipped version without stepping up to the larger battery.
For drivers covering greater distances, the Raval Endurance V1 introduces the larger 52kWh battery along with a substantial jump in performance to 211hp. Range increases to as much as 443 kilometres, making this likely to be the more attractive option for those regularly travelling beyond the city. Priced from €32,125, the Endurance V1 also includes 18-inch alloy wheels and Adaptive Cruise Control among its additional equipment.
At €33,110, the Endurance V2 retains the same 211hp output, 52kWh battery and 443-kilometre WLTP range but adds another layer of technology and comfort. Wireless phone charging, a reversing camera and heated front seats are included, but perhaps more interestingly it also introduces Vehicle-to-Home and Vehicle-to-Load functionality. The latter opens the possibility of using energy stored in the Raval’s battery to power compatible external equipment, while V2H technology has the potential to allow the vehicle to supply energy back to a suitably equipped home.
Sitting at the top of the range is the Raval VZ, which brings a much stronger performance flavour to CUPRA’s smallest electric model. Power rises to 226hp while the 52kWh battery provides a claimed range of up to 443 kilometres. Prices start from €36,825, with specification including 19-inch alloy wheels, Dinamica bucket seats, Dynamic Chassis Control, heated front seats and a rear-view camera. It should provide an interesting alternative for buyers looking for a compact EV with considerably more emphasis on performance and handling.
Safety and driver assistance technology also features prominently throughout the range. Rear Traffic Alert and Side & Exit Assist are included among the standard systems, while the larger displays and latest connectivity technology bring the Raval in line with CUPRA’s more expensive models. Despite its position as the entry point to the range, CUPRA clearly hasn’t approached the Raval as a stripped-out budget EV, particularly given the equipment included from the Urban V1 upwards.
CUPRA Ireland is supporting the launch with a series of CUPRA Night events at participating retailers nationwide. Customers attending will be able to see the Raval in person while also exploring the wider CUPRA line-up, including the Born, Tavascan, Terramar, Formentor and Leon. Raval buyers attending the events will also have access to launch offers including 1.9 per cent PCP finance and a complimentary service plan, with additional offers due to be announced during the individual evenings.
