The all-new Opel Frontera has arrived in dealerships across Ireland, with pricing and equipment now confirmed. Backed by a five-year unlimited mileage warranty for the Irish market, the Frontera launches as a five-seater in three trims, with a seven-seat version due before year’s end. The fully electric Frontera starts from €24,606 including the SEAI grant and VRT rebate, while the Frontera Hybrid is priced from €27,995 plus delivery related charges, positioning the newcomer as strong value in the compact family SUV class.
Rugged, spacious and contemporary, the Frontera’s design makes an immediate impression. The new Opel Blitz sits proudly within the Opel Vizor front face, while an upright stance, pronounced wheel arches and chunky sills underline its adventurous character. A palette of bright new colours completes a look aimed squarely at daily family life and weekend escapes.
Inside, the emphasis is on practicality without sacrificing comfort. Wide-opening rear doors make it easier to fit child seats and help passengers climb aboard. Luggage space measures up to 460 litres with the rear seats in place and grows to 1,594 litres when they are folded. A 60:40 split rear bench, a second load floor and the option of roof rails add flexibility for growing families and bigger trips.
Irish buyers can choose between two petrol hybrid powertrains, rated at 100 PS and 136 PS, or go fully electric. The launch-spec Frontera Electric uses a 44 kWh setup with 113 PS and a WLTP range of up to 300 km. A 54 kWh 113 PS version targeting up to 400 km is scheduled for 2026, broadening the line-up for longer commutes and road trips.
James Brooks, Managing Director of Opel Ireland, said the Frontera delivers strong packaging and value for families. With a stylish design, a roomy cabin and the choice of fully electric or petrol hybrid power and five or seven seats, he expects it to become a firm Irish favourite. With first cars landing in showrooms this month, order books are now open ahead of the 261 registration period.
Equipment levels are generous from the start. The entry SC trim includes a 10-inch driver display with smartphone station, electronic parking brake with hill assist, LED headlights with automatic high beam, rear park assist, manual climate control, cruise control and a suite of driver assistance features such as lane keep assist, forward collision alert, driver drowsiness alert and speed sign recognition. Elegance adds a 10-inch HD touchscreen with navigation, Opel Connect and DAB, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, natural voice recognition, USB-C up front, a rear-view camera, heated front seats and steering wheel, automatic climate control, Intelli seats for driver and passenger, a centre console with armrest and hidden storage, and 17-inch alloys. The range-topping GS enhances the specification with front and rear park assist, roof rails, a contrasting black roof, high-gloss black mirrors and front logo, rear privacy glass, power-folding mirrors, an electro-chromatic rear-view mirror, LED tail lamps and fog lamps, and side blind spot alert. An additional seven-seat GS petrol hybrid will follow later this year at a €1,500 premium over the five-seat GS, starting from €33,595 plus delivery related charges.
With Frontera joining the revitalised Opel SUV family, the brand now fields one of the freshest line-ups in the segment. The all-new Grandland reached showrooms in early 2025 and the updated Mokka arrived in June, giving Irish buyers a comprehensive range of sizes, styles and powertrains to choose from.
