Audi has pulled the wraps off the third generation of its flagship Q7 SUV, giving its largest family model a comprehensive overhaul that blends fresh styling, cutting-edge technology and greater comfort. Expected to arrive in Ireland later this year, the new Q7 builds on more than 20 years of success while introducing a host of improvements designed to keep it competitive in the increasingly crowded premium SUV market. Although unmistakably a Q7, the latest model adopts a cleaner and more sophisticated appearance. A larger Singleframe grille, slimmer lighting and stronger body lines give the SUV a more commanding presence on the road without straying too far from the familiar Audi design language.

Lighting technology is one area where Audi continues to lead from the front. Buyers will be able to specify Digital Matrix LED headlights and digital OLED rear lights, offering improved visibility while also allowing owners to personalise the lighting signatures with a range of selectable designs. Under the bonnet, Irish buyers will be offered a 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine in two power outputs. The range-topping version develops 220kW and 630Nm of torque, while the entry model produces 180kW and 500Nm. Both versions feature Audi’s latest MHEV plus mild hybrid technology, which is designed to improve efficiency while also providing an extra boost of performance when required.
An integrated powertrain generator can contribute up to 18kW during acceleration, while an electric compressor helps eliminate turbo lag, delivering smoother response when pulling away or overtaking. As expected, every Q7 comes equipped with Audi’s renowned quattro all wheel drive system and an eight speed tiptronic automatic transmission, promising effortless performance in all weather conditions. Practicality has always been one of the Q7’s biggest strengths and that remains unchanged. Buyers will once again be able to choose between five, six or seven seat layouts, making it equally appealing to growing families and those who regularly carry passengers in comfort. Those opting for the six seat configuration benefit from individual captain’s chairs in the second row, creating a more luxurious travelling environment.

Inside, Audi has focused on creating a cleaner, more premium cabin with improved technology throughout. The dashboard is dominated by the latest curved MMI panoramic display, which incorporates OLED technology for sharper graphics and a more intuitive user experience. Enhanced voice controls, connected services and a wide range of digital features ensure the Q7 remains every bit as modern as its rivals. One of the standout optional features is a new panoramic glass roof with switchable transparency technology. At the touch of a button, occupants can change the roof from clear to opaque, helping to regulate light entering the cabin while adding an extra sense of theatre.
Luggage space continues to be one of the Q7’s strongest selling points, with up to 2,075 litres available depending on the seating configuration. Combined with numerous storage compartments and a redesigned centre console, it should continue to appeal to buyers looking for genuine day-to-day practicality. Audi has also placed a strong emphasis on ride comfort. Adaptive air suspension will be available on selected models, allowing the Q7 to balance long-distance comfort with impressive body control. Optional all wheel steering promises easier manoeuvring around town while increasing stability during motorway driving.

As expected, the latest Q7 comes packed with driver assistance technology. Features including adaptive cruise assist, lane guidance, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and advanced parking assistance are all designed to make everyday driving safer and less stressful. The new Audi Q7 is expected to arrive in Irish dealerships later this year with prices starting from €117,900. With its combination of refined diesel power, generous practicality and an impressive suite of technology, the latest Q7 looks set to remain one of the most capable premium seven seat SUVs on sale.
