Renowned Clare motor retailer Sheils Motor Group has been appointed as an authorised BYD dealer by Motor Distributors Limited (MDL), the distributor of the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand in Ireland. Trading as BYD Clare, the new dealership will operate from the group’s prominent showroom on Gort Road, Dulick, on the northern approach to Ennis. Founded in 1925 by Tommy Sheils – great-grandfather of current Director Ted Sheils – Sheils Motor Group is one of Ireland’s largest and longest-established family-owned automotive businesses. Now in its fourth generation, the company employs almost 100 people across the group.
Welcoming the appointment, Vicky Reilly, National Sales Manager for BYD Ireland, said: “A trusted name in the Irish motor industry for more than a century, we are delighted to strengthen BYD’s presence in Munster by welcoming Sheils Motor Group to our dealer network.
