Volkswagen Debuts New Flagship ID. Polo

Volkswagen has unveiled the all-new ID. Polo, a significant new addition to its fully electric ID. family and a major step forward in making electric mobility more accessible. Irish pricing is expected to start from €19,885 (including SEAI grants and VRT relief), positioning the ID. Polo as one of the most competitive offerings in the compact EV segment. For decades, the Polo has set the benchmark in its class. Now, the all-new ID. Polo looks to raise that bar once again. It retains everything drivers have come to expect from the nameplate practicality, reliability and distinctive styling but reimagines it for a fully electric future. The result is a car that is unmistakably Volkswagen, designed to lead the segment once more.

The ID. Polo introduces a confident new design direction for the brand in the compact space. Clean lines, aerodynamic efficiency and a timeless presence define its exterior, while it becomes the first production model to showcase Volkswagen’s new ‘Pure Positive’ design language. Built on the latest evolution of the MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive, it also delivers impressive space efficiency for its size. Inside, the cabin strikes a balance between familiarity and innovation. A clean layout combines high-quality materials with intuitive physical controls, including rotary dials and clearly arranged buttons. Digital displays are neatly aligned across the dashboard, while features such as a “retro display” add a subtle nod to the Polo’s heritage. Practicality remains a strong focus too, with a generous 441-litre boot ensuring everyday usability.

At launch, the ID. Polo will be offered with a choice of three power outputs to include 115hp, 135hp and 211hp alongside two battery options of 37kWh and 52kWh. Depending on specification, it will offer a range of up to 454km, making it well suited to daily driving and longer journeys alike. Commenting on the announcement, Alan Bateson, Director of Volkswagen Ireland, described the model as a defining moment for the brand. He highlighted its role in bringing electric driving to a wider audience, noting that pricing below €20,000 sends a clear message about Volkswagen’s ambition to make EV ownership more attainable without compromise. He also emphasised the importance of the ID. Polo in carrying forward the legacy of a nameplate that has sold over 20 million units globally since 1975.

Orders for the all-new ID. Polo are expected to open in July 2026, with customers invited to register their interest now. Full pricing and detailed specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.
