Jaguar Type 01 to Make Irish Debut at Dublin Gallery Weekend

Jaguar has announced a new partnership with Dublin Gallery Weekend 2026, with the event providing the setting for the Irish debut of its new all-electric Type 01 luxury grand tourer. Taking place from November 5th to 8th, Dublin Gallery Weekend is Ireland’s largest celebration of contemporary art, bringing together leading artists, galleries and cultural organisations for four days of exhibitions, workshops, artist talks and events across the capital. Organised by the Contemporary Art Gallery Association (CAGA), the event will also see Jaguar showcase its latest creation in a specially curated gallery space at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA).

The Type 01 represents a significant departure for the British manufacturer as it embarks on a new era focused on high-performance electric luxury vehicles. Jaguar has long promoted its design philosophy of being a ‘copy of nothing’, a principle associated with company founder Sir William Lyons, who believed that Jaguar vehicles should be considered works of art rather than simply a means of transport. With its exceptionally long bonnet, low roofline, sleek silhouette and dramatic proportions, the four-door GT draws inspiration from some of Jaguar’s most celebrated models, including the E-type and XJS, while introducing an entirely new design direction. The result is a striking interpretation of what a modern Jaguar should look like, combining familiar design influences with a distinctly futuristic appearance.

Beneath the distinctive bodywork sits Jaguar’s bespoke electric vehicle architecture, producing more than 1,000PS and making the Type 01 the most powerful Jaguar road car to date. The manufacturer is also promising impressive long-distance capability, with a targeted WLTP driving range of up to 720km. Its advanced 850-volt electrical system supports charging speeds of up to 350kW, potentially adding 321km of driving range in just 13 minutes under suitable conditions. These figures would place the new Jaguar among the more capable electric grand tourers on the market, although real-world performance and efficiency will ultimately determine how it compares with established luxury rivals.

Speaking about the partnership, Eddie Kavanagh, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Ireland, described Dublin Gallery Weekend as an ideal platform to showcase the company’s renewed focus on creativity and original thinking. He explained that the collaboration reflects Jaguar’s commitment to supporting art and design, while providing an opportunity to introduce Irish audiences to the brand’s next chapter. The decision to unveil the Type 01 in an art gallery rather than at a traditional motor show is also in keeping with Jaguar’s efforts to position its future vehicles as distinctive luxury products with a strong emphasis on design and individuality.

The partnership places Jaguar’s latest electric GT firmly in the spotlight, with the RHA exhibition offering Irish audiences an early opportunity to see the vehicle up close. With its radical styling, considerable performance claims and ambitious electric technology, the Type 01 signals just how dramatically Jaguar intends to reposition itself in the luxury car market. It also marks an important moment for the British manufacturer as it moves away from its traditional model range and towards a new generation of exclusively electric vehicles. Further details on Irish pricing and market availability have yet to be announced.
