Volkswagen Group Ireland has announced record-breaking sales for 2025, delivering a historic performance despite a challenging economic environment. Across its six brands – Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Audi, CUPRA, SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles the Group registered 40,950 vehicles, securing a 29 per cent share of the Irish new car market. The Group also accounted for more than one in four electric vehicles sold in Ireland. Volkswagen’s ID.4, Ireland’s best-selling EV of all time, topped the charts for a fifth consecutive year, with registrations rising 35 per cent year-on-year, reinforcing Volkswagen’s position as the country’s leading BEV brand.

Strong performances were recorded across the wider Group. Škoda achieved record sales for the third year running, driven in part by a 300 per cent increase in BEV registrations. Audi continued to accelerate its electrification strategy, with BEV and PHEV models now representing 40 per cent of its 2026 order bank. CUPRA sustained its rapid growth, with registrations up 55 per cent in 2025 and average annual growth of 43 per cent since entering the Irish market. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also enjoyed a strong year, with registrations rising 39 per cent, securing second place overall in the light commercial vehicle segment.

Globally, Volkswagen Group sold nearly nine million vehicles in 2025, while achieving a 25 per cent market share in Europe, underlining strong brand momentum.

Pierre Boutin, CEO and Group Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Ireland, said: “Despite intense competition, 2025 was an exceptional year. Our record performance reflects the strength of our products, the commitment of our dealer network and the trust Irish customers place in our brands.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Volkswagen Group will launch 20 new models across all brands, powertrains and segments. Highlights include the arrival of the CUPRA Raval, the first Urban EV model, Volkswagen’s Golf GTI Edition 50, all-new T-Roc and Passat, Škoda’s Epiq and seven-seat Peaq SUV, Audi’s new RS5, and the all-electric e-Caravelle from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Electrification remains central to the Group’s strategy. Volkswagen continues to lead the Irish BEV market while supporting customers through initiatives such as ID. Promise, offering drivers up to 100 days to experience electric mobility with confidence. In 2026, the Group will reach a major milestone by becoming the first European carmaker to develop and produce battery cells at scale through its PowerCo subsidiary, strengthening long-term competitiveness and supply security.

Audi will also make its Formula One debut in 2026, marking a significant moment for the brand as it continues its performance and technology-led transformation. With strong demand for BEVs and plug-in hybrids, and an expanding product range across all segments, Volkswagen Group Ireland enters 2026 well positioned to build on its record-breaking success.
