Volvo Unveils €40 Million Retail Network Overhaul

Volvo Car Ireland has announced a major overhaul of its retail network, backed by a €40 million investment from its dealer partners as the Swedish brand prepares for its next phase of growth in Ireland’s expanding electric vehicle market. The transformation follows a two-year review of Volvo’s national retail network and will see the company work with a streamlined group of dedicated retail partners across the country. The investment will fund a new generation of Volvo showrooms designed to deliver a more premium customer experience while supporting the brand’s growing range of fully electric and plug-in hybrid models.

Led by Managing Director Alan Cowley, Volvo Car Ireland says the strategy has been developed to strengthen the brand’s position as the market continues its shift towards electrification and ahead of Volvo’s global centenary celebrations in 2027. At the heart of the investment is the introduction of new Scandinavian-inspired retail spaces. Featuring contemporary showroom lounges, extensive glazing and premium customer facilities, the new dealerships have been designed to create a more relaxed and personalised buying experience while reflecting Volvo’s focus on sustainability and modern luxury.

Construction work has already begun at Volvo Cars Sligo, while development of a new Volvo Cars North Dublin dealership is expected to commence before the end of the year. The full retail network transformation is scheduled to be completed over the next four years. Volvo believes the new facilities will better meet changing customer expectations, with buyers increasingly seeking a more transparent, convenient and personalised purchasing experience. The upgraded dealerships will also provide dedicated spaces for customers to explore Volvo’s expanding electrified model range with the support of specialist product advisors.

The announcement comes during a period of strong growth for electric vehicles in Ireland. During the first six months of 2026, EV registrations increased by 48 per cent compared with the same period last year, significantly outpacing the overall new car market, which grew by 4 per cent. Volvo has set an ambitious target of increasing Irish sales by 50 per cent between 2025 and 2030, with electrification expected to play a central role in achieving that goal.

Commenting on the announcement, Alan Cowley, Managing Director of Volvo Car Ireland, said the investment represents a significant milestone for the brand.

“This restructure and substantial investment mark a pivotal moment for Volvo in Ireland. By reimagining our retail network with highly committed partners, we are ensuring the customer experience reflects the premium and sustainable values of our growing electric vehicle range. It positions us strongly for the future as we approach Volvo’s 100th anniversary.”

The retail network investment forms part of Volvo’s wider transformation as it continues to expand its electric vehicle line-up, introduce more software-defined vehicles and develop a customer experience centred on simplicity, safety and sustainability.
