Ford and Ford Pro have announced a new partnership with Ohme, which becomes Ford’s official home EV charging partner in Ireland. The collaboration forms part of the Ford Power Promise and is designed to make the transition to electric vehicles simpler and more reassuring for Irish drivers. Under the Ford Power Promise, Ford dealers across the Republic of Ireland will now offer a complimentary Ohme home charger to qualifying customers. The initiative responds directly to consumer concerns around electric vehicle ownership. A recent Ford survey of 5,000 drivers across Europe found that a quarter of customers feel uncertain about buying an electric car, while one in eight people find arranging home charging too complicated. The Ford Power Promise aims to remove these barriers by offering a clear and supported pathway into electric driving, helping customers save time, reduce costs and charge with confidence at home.
Building on Ohme’s existing relationship with Ford in the UK through Octopus Energy, the Irish partnership delivers a complete charging solution. Ohme will provide the charger, standard installation, dealer training and ongoing support. Headquartered in Cork, Ohme is the largest home EV charging provider in the UK and Ireland and is currently the fastest growing EV charging company in Europe.
John Manning, Market Lead for Ford of Ireland, said: The move is about simplifying the entire ownership experience for first-time EV buyers. He noted that Ford’s partnership with Ohme strengthens the Power Promise and supports growing demand for electric vehicles, with Ford’s electric passenger car sales in Ireland up 500 per cent year on year. He added that Ohme’s smart charging technology allows drivers to charge at the lowest cost and greenest times of day, helping to significantly reduce running costs.
Using Energia’s EV Smart Drive off-peak tariff between 2am and 6am, drivers can add almost 30 kW of battery power for just €2.79 when charging with a 7.4 kW home charger. Fully charging a new Puma Gen-E during off-peak hours costs around €5, compared with an estimated €58 to €70 for a full tank of petrol.
Alongside the free Ohme charger and standard installation, the Ford Power Promise includes an eight-year or 160,000 km high-voltage battery and component warranty, a free five-year service plan, five years of towing assistance, and access to more than 3,900 public charging points through the BlueOval Charge Network powered by Octopus Electroverse. Customers also benefit from the FordPass app, which simplifies public charging payments, as well as dedicated customer care support.
Ohme CEO David Watson highlighted the strong connection between Ford and Ireland, particularly County Cork, and praised Ford’s expanding electric line-up. He said models such as the new Puma Gen-E, Capri, Mustang Mach-E and Explorer, alongside Ford’s electrified commercial vehicles, make Ford one of the strongest EV brands on the market.
Ohme’s dynamic chargers use live grid data and automatically adjust charging to take advantage of the most affordable and sustainable energy tariffs. The chargers also offer a solar boost function, reducing reliance on the grid. Through this partnership, Ford customers can benefit from Ohme’s existing relationships with energy providers across the island of Ireland, including Energia Group, SSE Airtricity, Power NI and Click NI. The offer applies across Ford’s electric passenger and commercial vehicle range in Ireland and is available on passenger vehicles until 30 April 2026 and commercial vehicles until 31 March 2026.
