This news doesn’t really come as a surprise and we are delighted to see the the new Ford Mustang doing so well especially for a car new to European markets. Ford have announced that for the first time since the iconic Mustang was launched in 1964, it has now taken the title of Germany’s favourite sports car for the month of March. With 780 sales across the Teutonic heartland in March, the new Mustang proved a bigger hit with German drivers than the home-produced Porsche 911 and Audi TT with sales of 752 and 708 units respectively. Across Europe, customer orders for the Mustang now stand at 16,600 since its introduction in the third quarter last year.

“It is not surprising that German motorists have gone for the Mustang in such big numbers, even though the car has never been sold in Europe until now, the Mustang’s reputation for performance and its iconic status as a symbol of the free, open road is well implanted in the psyche of motorists right across Europe”, said Ciarán McMahon, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland.

“In Ireland, we have sold over 20 models since the car was launched here in February and by year end, with increased supply, we would hope that will rise to in excess of 100 so that the unmistakeable shape of Mustang will become a familiar sight on Ireland’s highways and byways”.
