CUPRA has taken its long-standing partnership with renowned German tuning specialist ABT to a new level with the introduction of the new CUSTOM CUPRA by ABT package. Designed to bring a more distinctive and aggressive appearance to some of the brand’s most popular models, the new factory-developed package allows owners to add an even greater degree of individuality to their cars. Developed jointly by CUPRA and ABT, the package combines the Spanish brand’s striking design language with ABT’s decades of motorsport expertise. The result is a comprehensive aerodynamic styling package that gives both the CUPRA Leon and CUPRA Formentor a sharper and more purposeful presence on the road.
Unlike traditional aftermarket upgrades, every CUSTOM CUPRA by ABT package is conceived and hand assembled at the CUPRA Racing Factory. The same facility responsible for some of the brand’s most successful competition cars has brought its craftsmanship and attention to detail to the project, ensuring each component meets full factory quality and homologation standards. The package can also be fitted retrospectively through the CUPRA dealer network. According to Sven Schuwirth, Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing at CUPRA, the aim is to bring the visual character of the brand’s most extreme models to a much wider audience.
The package is available across a broad range of powertrains, meaning customers can enjoy the styling cues of the high-performance models regardless of which engine they choose. It also reflects CUPRA’s philosophy of allowing owners to create vehicles that are a genuine expression of their own personality. The latest collaboration between the two brands was unveiled during the fifth edition of CUPRA Performance Days, held at Austria’s famous Red Bull Ring circuit. The four-day event attracted around 320 participants, including international media, dealers and customers, and showcased almost 40 CUPRA models, with a particular emphasis on performance and electric vehicles such as the new Formentor VZ5 and the forthcoming all-electric Raval.
For the CUPRA Leon and Leon Sportstourer, the CUSTOM CUPRA by ABT package draws inspiration from the race-bred Leon VZ TCR. A revised front splitter, sculpted side skirts and an extensively redesigned rear section create a more dramatic profile. The package also includes a roof spoiler, rear winglets, C-flap mouldings and a bespoke rear diffuser, while exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels and dark chrome CUPRA badges further underline the car’s special edition status. Selected VZ models also benefit from wider high-performance tyres to enhance both appearance and grip.
The Formentor receives a similarly comprehensive makeover. Inspired by the flagship VZ5, the package introduces a more assertive front end with a distinctive splitter and redesigned air curtain surrounds. New side mouldings visually lower the crossover’s stance, while a roof spoiler and rear detailing complete the transformation. Special 19-inch alloy wheels and subtle ABT branding add the finishing touches, while dark chrome CUPRA emblems reinforce the premium and exclusive feel. One of the most impressive aspects of the project is the fact that every package is assembled by hand at the CUPRA Racing Factory. This level of craftsmanship ensures a seamless fit and finish, while also highlighting the close relationship that has developed between CUPRA and ABT Sportsline over the years.
The CUSTOM CUPRA by ABT package represents the most comprehensive collaboration between the two brands to date and offers enthusiasts a unique opportunity to give their cars a stronger connection to CUPRA’s motorsport heritage. The new package will be available from July 2026 for the CUPRA Leon, including the five-door and Sportstourer variants, as well as the CUPRA Formentor. Customers will be able to specify the package when ordering a new vehicle or have it installed later through authorised CUPRA dealerships.
