Škoda is continuing its major push into electric mobility with the arrival of the all-new Epiq, a compact electric crossover designed to bring EV ownership to a wider audience without compromising on practicality, range, or technology. Positioned as the most affordable fully electric model in the Czech brand’s lineup, the new Škoda Epiq is expected to start from €24,559 including SEAI grant and VRT relief, placing it firmly in the increasingly competitive entry-level EV market. Despite its compact footprint, Škoda says the Epiq has been developed around the brand’s long-standing reputation for spacious interiors, clever practicality, and strong value for money.

The Epiq will play a key role in the next phase of Škoda’s electric expansion. It joins an already diverse lineup that includes models such as the Fabia, Octavia, Kodiaq, Superb, and Enyaq, while helping the company broaden its appeal within the smaller SUV segment. The model also forms part of a much larger electrification strategy within the wider Volkswagen Group, of which Škoda has been a part since 1991. Right now, Škoda employs more than 39,000 people globally and operates in over 100 markets worldwide. In Ireland, the brand continues to go from strength to strength, currently sitting in third position in the Irish new car market with over 7,500 vehicles delivered so far in 2026 and close to a 10 per cent market share.

The Epiq itself represents several firsts for the brand. It will become the first Škoda built on Volkswagen Group’s new MEB+ electric platform and also the company’s first front-wheel-drive EV. Buyers will have a choice of two battery sizes depending on trim level, with the larger 55kWh version offering a claimed range of up to 435 kilometres. Fast charging capability has also been prioritised, with Škoda claiming the Epiq can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 24 minutes using DC fast charging. That should make it suitable not only for city driving but also for longer journeys.

As expected from Škoda, practicality remains a major focus. Despite sitting in the compact A0-SUV category, the Epiq offers a 475-litre boot, which the company says will be among the largest in its class. Inside, the cabin follows Škoda’s new “Modern Solid” design philosophy with a clean dashboard layout, durable materials, physical controls, and a range of “Simply Clever” storage solutions designed for everyday usability. The Epiq will also introduce several advanced features not always seen at this end of the market. These include a mobile digital key, one-pedal driving technology, Vehicle-to-Load capability allowing owners to power electrical devices from the car, and Vehicle-to-Home functionality which could potentially allow the vehicle to support domestic energy use in the future.

Visually, the Epiq is good looking machine! It adopts a more modern and minimalist design language, highlighted by Škoda’s new “Tech Deck Face” front end and distinctive T-shaped lighting signatures that are expected to appear on future SUV models from the brand. At home here in Ireland we will be offered a number of trim levels including Choice, Essence, Selection, and Sportline. Orders for the Selection 55 model are expected to open at launch, with additional versions arriving later in 2026 ahead of the new 271 registration period. We cant wait to spend a week with this one!
