Jaguar Type 01 Interior Revealed

Jaguar has offered the first look inside its forthcoming Type 01, revealing a dramatic new interior that previews the design direction for the brand’s next generation of luxury vehicles. The Type 01 is the first production model to follow Jaguar’s new creative philosophy, with its cabin designed to deliver a sense of occasion while carrying many of the ideas first explored through the company’s concept car programme into production. Central to the interior is a distinctive spine running the full length of the cabin. Rather than following the more conventional horizontal dashboard layout, Jaguar has used this longitudinal feature to divide the cabin into four individual spaces.

The driver sits low within the car, creating a more focused grand touring driving position, while the surrounding cabin has been designed to provide a cosseting and confidence inspiring environment. Material choice also plays an important role. Jaguar says the interior has been influenced by the natural appearance of travertine stone and the textures of artisan textiles. A brass inspired finish is used along the central spine and repeated across the tops of the doors, with the full length elements incorporating the Jaguar leaper.

Thomas Holden, Chief Interior Designer at Jaguar, said: “In contrast to the horizontal interior design norm, we emphasise its dramatic longitudinal nature through the central spine, an architectural statement that creates four individual spaces. With authentic materials, technology on demand and reductive flowing surfaces, Type 01 presents unmistakable drama and theatre that will define the modern luxury automotive interior of the future.”

Jaguar has also worked to blur the traditional boundaries between the exterior and interior. So called “strikethrough” elements visually connect the bonnet with the slim dashboard, creating a continuous design theme running through the car. Technology has deliberately been integrated into the architecture rather than dominating the cabin. Digital interfaces appear when required, while a ClearSight digital rear view display is positioned centrally at the base of the windscreen and at a similar height to the exterior door mirrors. Jaguar says this positioning is intended to help drivers maintain their focus on the road. Elsewhere, concealed storage areas and hidden until needed technology help maintain the clean appearance of the cabin, with carefully positioned areas of colour adding contrast to the otherwise minimalist surroundings.

Rawdon Glover, Managing Director of Jaguar, said the Type 01 represents the first production interpretation of the company’s new design philosophy.

“With Type 01, we wanted every journey to be an occasion, from how it drives to how it looks and how it makes you feel. With a confidence inspiring GT driving position, clean and sophisticated technology and dramatic styling, Type 01 has an interior like no other.”

The production Jaguar Type 01 will then be fully revealed in New York on 6th October 2026, marking an important next step in the transformation of the Jaguar brand.
