Škoda has expanded the Superb range with the introduction of a new 200 kW plug-in hybrid powertrain to the Superb Hatchback variant. The new Superb Hatch (often mistaken as a Saloon) joins the Superb Combi, which already offers plug-in hybrid technology, further strengthening the model’s electrified line-up. With a total system output of 200 kW (268 bhp), it also becomes the most powerful combustion-engine version in the current Superb range.
Škoda first introduced plug-in hybrid technology to its range with the Superb iV in 2019, followed by the Octavia iV a year later and the plug-in hybrid Kodiaq in 2024. The existing 150 kW plug-in hybrid powertrain will continue to be offered in the Superb Combi. For the Superb Hatch in Sportline and Laurin & Klement specifications, the new 200 kW plug-in hybrid variant will now be the sole plug-in hybrid option. The Superb Hatch PHEV sees the addition of Dynamic Chassis Control as standard and improved braking via larger ventilated rear brake discs with improved front brake cooling.
The new powertrain combines a 1.5 TSI petrol engine producing 130 kW with an 85 kW electric motor and a 25.7 kWh (gross) traction battery. Together, the system delivers a total output of 200 kW (268 bhp), making it the most powerful Škoda vehicle currently available with a combustion engine. The high-voltage battery capacity remains unchanged at 25.7 kWh. Charging capability is also unchanged, with AC charging of up to 11 kW and DC charging of up to 50 kW. Under optimal conditions, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 26 minutes and delivers an electric only range of up to 140 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.
Since its introduction in 2019, more than 68,000 Superb iV models have been delivered globally across both generations and body styles. Demand continues to grow, with plug-in hybrid variants now accounting for approximately one in four new Superb models globally. The Superb Hatch PHEV has a starting price from €50,685 excluding delivery and related charges.
