Toyota Ireland finished 2025 as the nation’s most popular car brand for the fifth consecutive year, reaffirming its leadership as Irish motorists continue to choose low-emission vehicles. With a 13.5% market share, Toyota confidently retains its number one position in the Irish passenger vehicle market. 97% of all Toyota sales in 2025 came from electrified models, with the Yaris Cross, RAV4 and Corolla all featured among the top 10 best-selling cars of the year, underscoring the brand’s dominance in electrified motoring. Toyota also leads in 20 counties, with a peak market share of 15.87% recorded in Cork County.

This success is driven by Toyota’s Dealer Network’s focus on customer experience, and Toyota’s commitment to continuous improvement and its multipath approach to carbon neutrality, a strategy that recognises that different customers and driving needs require different low and zero-emission solutions. As a result, 97% of Toyota’s passenger range now delivers reduced or zero tailpipe emissions. Going into 2026, Toyota is strengthening its electric offering with the upgraded fully electric Toyota bZ. Available in dealerships now, and priced from €42,160, the bZ provides enhanced battery performance and refreshed styling. This will be followed by the arrival of the Aygo X Hybrid in late January, and by the Toyota C-HR+ (EV) and RAV4 Hybrid in March 2026.

Ireland’s transition toward sustainable mobility accelerated significantly in 2025, with EV, Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid models experiencing robust growth across the market. Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) delivered the most dramatic year-on-year uplift, with year-on-year sales rising by 52.49%, pushing market share from 10.01% (2024) to 14.82% (2025) as more drivers embraced flexible, low-emission alternatives. In contrast, traditional fuels continued to decline. Petrol sales fell by 14.59% in 2025, while diesel registrations declined by 23.04% falling from 22.87% (2024) to 17.09% of the market in 2025.

Hybrid vehicles continued to play a central role in this shift, with a 10.81% year-on-year increase, bringing market share up from 20.9% to 22.48%. Electric vehicles (EVs) saw a year-on-year growth of more than 35%, expanding the market share from 14.39% (2024) to 18.89%, reflecting the growing appeal of zero-emission driving. These trends underline Ireland’s accelerating shift away from conventional engines and toward more sustainable, next-generation mobility solutions.

Zoë Bradley, Head of Marketing Communications and Corporate Affairs in Toyota Ireland, said: “We are delighted to remain in the top position as Ireland’s best-selling car brand for the fifth-year running. This achievement reflects the trust Irish drivers place in Toyota and our customer-focused Dealer Network and the continued shift toward low- and zero-emission vehicles across the market.

Our customers are at the core of our business, and our nationwide Dealer Network is instrumental in delivering the personalised support, reliability and service Toyota is known for.
