Mazda’s all-new CX-5 marks an important new chapter for the brand as the first model to adopt Mazda E/E Architecture+ (Mazda EEA+). It also introduces an advanced human–machine interface with Google built-in at the heart of the driving experience. Together, these elements create a cockpit that combines cutting-edge technology with clean, driver-focused design.

Mazda EEA+ integrates the vehicle’s electronic control units, software layers, communication networks and the cloud-based systems that support the car’s digital functions. This sophisticated platform underpins the new CX-5’s redesigned HMI and connectivity features, enabling over-the-air updates, supporting advanced driver assistance systems and laying the groundwork for Mazda’s future software-defined vehicles.

The new HMI experience has been engineered to keep the driver in control while reducing visual, manual and cognitive distraction. It follows Mazda’s long-standing safety philosophy by prioritising simplicity and ease of use. A strong horizontal layout centres around a new integrated touch display, available in 12.9 or 15.6 inches, offering customisable smartphone-style interaction.

Essential functions remain on physical buttons, while frequently used features are placed high and permanently visible to reduce eye movement. All versions of the CX-5 feature a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an enlarged head-up display. Capacitive switches on the steering wheel group together key functions such as Mi-Drive and the 360-degree view, while still allowing traditional press operation. High-precision voice recognition further supports hands-on-wheel driving.

For the first time in a Mazda, the CX-5 features Google built-in as standard. It launches with Google Assistant and will receive an update to Google Gemini, enabling natural, conversational voice control for tasks such as adjusting the climate settings or navigating to a destination. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, the MyMazda app and an available 12-speaker Bose premium audio system enhance the overall digital experience.

Mazda’s calm, crafted interior design philosophy complements the advanced technology. The cabin has been created to feel spacious and refined, with clean surfaces and high-quality materials. Externally, the all-new CX-5 evolves Mazda’s Kodo design language with a more confident stance and improved proportions. It is powered by a 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv G petrol engine featuring Mazda M Hybrid technology. The combination of Mazda EEA+, a next-generation HMI and Google built-in positions the all-new CX-5 as a significant step forward for the brand, both technologically and in terms of user experience.
