Retro Cannonball returns from June 5th to 7th, bringing with it 100 classic cars, free family entertainment and the vibrant festival atmosphere the event is known for. The 2026 edition was officially launched in Killarney, where Tadhg and Derry Fleming joined forces with Ronald McDonald House to announce this year’s charity partnership. Cannonball Ireland once again lends its energy, humour and nationwide following to support a cause that provides vital assistance to families when children require hospital care.
Cannonball founder Alan Bannon welcomed six-year-old Ella O’Connor and her family from Brosna to the launch. Ella received incredible support during her treatment at Crumlin Hospital, with Ronald McDonald House becoming a home away from home for nearly two years. Having completed her chemotherapy last year, Ella is now doing well and was on hand to mark the occasion.
Retro Cannonball is a classic car road trip that showcases an exceptional mix of iconic vehicles, including the Lamborghini Diablo, Jaguar E-Type, Ferrari 348 GTS, Mercedes-Benz SL classics, Lancia Beta, BMW 635CSI, Porsche 911 Carrera and Targa, MG Midget, Ford Escort Cosworth, Chevrolet Corvette, Volkswagen Beetle, Ford Thunderbird and Mini Cooper. Spectators will have the opportunity to get up close to the cars, take photographs and meet the drivers at each of the start and finish locations, as well as at pit stops and lunch venues along the route.
The event begins in Dún Laoghaire at the Royal Marine Hotel before heading through Wicklow and into the south east, with a lunch stop at Mount Wolseley Hotel in County Carlow on day one. Day two sees the convoy tackle the scenic Vee drive, stop for lunch in Clonmel and conclude with a spectacular finish in Waterford City. Along the way, families and spectators can enjoy a unique showcase of rare and beautifully preserved classic cars.
Since its inception, Cannonball has raised more than €2.2 million for Irish children’s charities. In 2026, all funds raised will go to Ronald McDonald House, which has supported over 5,400 families across Ireland since opening in 2004 by providing accommodation and care during difficult times.
Classic cars are defined by their style, craftsmanship and timeless appeal, and Retro Cannonball celebrates all of these qualities. Featuring vehicles from the 1960s through to the 1990s, the event creates a nostalgic journey through motoring history as the convoy travels through some of Ireland’s most scenic landscapes.
Registration is also now open for Cannonball Ireland, the supercar event taking place from September 13th to 15th. While Retro Cannonball offers a more relaxed pace, both events deliver unforgettable experiences, combining spectacular driving routes, premium hospitality and a unique sense of camaraderie that continues to define Cannonball.
