Polestar has confirmed that a new SUV version of the Polestar 4 will join its growing model range, with the new variant set to go on sale from September 2026. The Swedish EV manufacturer says the Polestar 4 SUV has been developed to offer buyers a more practical alternative to the existing Polestar 4 coupé, while retaining the distinctive styling, strong performance and sustainable credentials that have helped make the model one of the brand’s biggest success stories. The most noticeable difference comes at the rear, where the SUV’s more traditional roofline is expected to deliver increased luggage capacity and greater versatility for families and those with active lifestyles, broadening the appeal of the Polestar 4 range.
Despite the additional practicality, Polestar says the new SUV retains the engaging driving dynamics the brand has become known for. Both the SUV and updated Polestar 4 coupé benefit from revised chassis tuning designed to sharpen handling and improve overall driving feel. Built on Polestar’s proven 400-volt electric architecture, the range-topping Dual Motor version produces up to 544hp, delivering the strong performance expected from the Swedish performance EV brand. Full technical specifications, including battery capacities, WLTP range and pricing, are expected closer to the vehicle’s launch.
Commenting on the announcement, Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller said the company had seen strong demand for a version of the Polestar 4 offering even greater practicality.
“The Polestar 4 has quickly become a favourite among our customers. With the new SUV, we’re offering even more versatility while remaining true to the character and performance that define the Polestar 4.”
The new model will be built at Polestar’s manufacturing facility in Busan, South Korea. The arrival of the Polestar 4 SUV continues the company’s rapid product expansion. Alongside the Polestar 2, Polestar 3, Polestar 4 and the forthcoming Polestar 5, the brand has already confirmed the Polestar 6 electric roadster and the compact Polestar 7 SUV, which is scheduled to enter production in Europe in 2028. The Polestar 4 SUV is expected to arrive in Irish showrooms from September 2026, with pricing to be confirmed closer to launch.
