Volkswagen Ireland has announced a new nationwide Scrappage Offer, giving motorists the opportunity to save thousands of euro when trading in an older vehicle for a new Volkswagen Passenger Car. Building on the Government’s recently announced EV Scrappage Incentive, Volkswagen Ireland has introduced a broader, more accessible scrappage programme that extends beyond fully electric vehicles to include selected petrol, diesel and plug in hybrid models. The Volkswagen Scrappage Offer provides savings of up to €8,500 across selected petrol, diesel, plug in hybrid and electric models, while stocks last. The initiative ensures that customers can benefit from significant savings regardless of their preferred powertrain.
Customers purchasing selected electric models, including the ID.5 and ID.7, who also qualify for the Government’s EV Scrappage Incentive, can receive a further €5,000 contribution from Volkswagen. This brings the total potential saving to as much as €13,500 on the cost of a new electric Volkswagen. Designed to make upgrading more affordable, the Volkswagen Scrappage Offer recognises that every customer’s journey towards lower emission motoring is different. Whether moving to a fully electric vehicle, choosing a plug in hybrid, or upgrading to a newer petrol or diesel model, the programme offers an accessible route into the latest Volkswagen technology, efficiency and safety features. The offer is available to private retail customers who trade in a vehicle first registered in 2016 or earlier. Eligible vehicles must be registered in the Republic of Ireland and be in a condition acceptable to a participating Volkswagen Retailer.

Customers who qualify for both the Government and Volkswagen incentives can now save up to €13,500 on selected electric models such as the ID.5 and ID.7. At the same time, motorists who are not yet ready to move to an electric vehicle can still benefit from savings of up to €8,500 when upgrading to a newer Volkswagen. As a brand, we remain committed to offering customers genuine choice. This programme reflects that commitment while helping to modernise Ireland’s vehicle fleet with safer, cleaner and more efficient vehicles.”
