All-New BMW i3 50 xDrive First Edition

BMW has ushered in a new era with the introduction of the all-electric BMW i3, the second model based on its Neue Klasse platform. Unveiled earlier this year, the new saloon has already generated strong customer interest, with order books opening ahead of its official market launch in autumn 2026. Initially available as the BMW i3 50 xDrive First Edition, the model is priced from €72,855 and builds on the standard specification with additional M Sport styling, BMW Iconic Glow lighting, a 3D Head-Up Display and upgraded AC charging capability. When the regular BMW i3 50 xDrive arrives later in the year, prices will start from €66,685.

BMW describes the new i3 as a major technological leap and the next chapter in the story of the iconic 3 Series. While retaining familiar BMW proportions, the Neue Klasse design introduces a cleaner, more modern look, with a reinterpreted kidney grille and a distinctive new lighting signature. The rear features slim L-shaped lights, while pronounced wheel arches emphasise the car’s sporting stance. Inside, the i3 introduces BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive system and Operating System X. At its centre is BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects information across the lower section of the windscreen. Voice control has also been enhanced with the integration of large language model technology, allowing more natural interactions with the vehicle’s navigation, media and functions.

Power comes from two electric motors delivering a combined 469hp and 645Nm of torque, enabling the i3 50 xDrive to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds. BMW says its sixth-generation eDrive technology, combined with the new Heart of Joy control system, delivers more precise and refined driving characteristics than ever before. A new 108.7kWh battery and 800-volt architecture allow rapid charging, with up to 423km of range added in just ten minutes using a 400kW charger. Depending on specification, the BMW i3 offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 912 kilometres and supports bidirectional charging.

The First Edition also benefits from electrically adjustable seats, three-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, Harman Kardon audio and automatic tailgate operation. Customers can further personalise the car with a variety of colours, wheel designs and interior themes, while optional features include rear seat heating, a panoramic glass roof and advanced driver assistance systems.
