Polestar has officially revealed the Polestar 5, a four-door performance Grand Tourer that brings the Swedish brand’s bold vision of design, technology, and sustainability into production. Evolving directly from the striking Precept concept first shown in 2020, the Polestar 5 stays true to its origins while showcasing innovations that set it apart in the electric luxury space. At nearly five metres long, the Polestar 5 is a sleek GT that blends elegance with aerodynamics. Inspired by aviation, its wing-like profile and Kamm-style tail create a taut, minimalist silhouette free of unnecessary details. The signature dual-blade headlights, low nose with Polestar’s SmartZone, and frameless flush glazing all contribute to a drag coefficient as low as 0.24.

Despite its dramatic proportions, clever engineering ensures generous interior space. A digital rear-view mirror and a massive panoramic glass roof – the largest yet on a Polestar – enhance light and openness for rear passengers. At the back, a bespoke aero lightbar and integrated diffuser refine airflow. Buyers can choose from six exterior colours, including two matte finishes, Storm and Magnesium. The cabin combines driver-focused ergonomics with passenger comfort. Front seats, developed with Recaro, sit low and provide strong bolstering, while offering heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Rear passengers enjoy reclining seats, four-zone climate control, and the same attention to comfort, with the option to convert to a fifth seat when needed.

Sustainability is central to the design. Materials such as BComp ampliTex flax fibre, recycled PET, Econyl (from fishing nets), and chrome-free Nappa leather reduce environmental impact while maintaining a premium feel. Even the luggage compartments use lightweight, recyclable materials to cut waste and emissions. Technology is equally refined: a 14.5-inch centre display powered by Google’s Android Automotive OS, paired with a 9-inch driver display and head-up display, ensures seamless digital integration. An optional 21-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system with 1,680 watts and tweeter-on-top technology turns the GT into a rolling concert hall.

Underneath, the Polestar 5 debuts the brand’s new bonded aluminium Polestar Performance Architecture. Lightweight, rigid, and incorporating recycled aluminium, the structure gives the GT torsional stiffness exceeding that of many supercars while lowering its carbon footprint. The chassis employs advanced double wishbone suspension, Brembo brakes, and adaptive dampers for sharp handling and comfort. Two versions will be available at launch. The Polestar 5 Dual Motor produces 550 kW (812 Nm), accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The range-topping Polestar 5 Performance delivers 650 kW (1,015 Nm), cutting the sprint to just 3.2 seconds. Both are electronically limited to 250 km/h.

With a 112 kWh battery and advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, the Polestar 5 supports ultra-fast DC charging up to 350 kW, reaching 10–80% in just 22 minutes. Efficiency is also built-in: the rear motor can disconnect when not needed, giving the Dual Motor model up to 670 km WLTP range, while the Performance version achieves up to 565 km.

Orders are open across initial launch markets. The Polestar 5 Dual Motor is priced from roughly €119,900, while the Polestar 5 Performance starts at €142,900. Final pricing for Ireland will be confirmed in later this year. With its blend of Scandinavian design, innovative engineering, and sustainability, the Polestar 5 is not just another electric luxury car, it is a statement of where performance GTs are headed in the electric era.
