Volkswagen has added two new hot variants to its Mark 7 Golf model line-up, with the launch of the new GTI and GTD. The GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine which produces a stern 220hp and 350Nm of torque. It will reach 100km/h from a standstill in just 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 246km/h. Despite its impressive performance figures, the GTI can return 6.0l/100km on a combined run. Prices commence from €33,820.
The new Golf GTD is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine which offers 184hp and 380Nm of torque, and offers a combined fuel consumption of 4.2l/100km. Prices commence from €35,740. Both cars are available with a choice of a six-speed manual or a DSG twin-clutch transmission.
