Recently unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show, the all-new Mazda CX-6e marks an important milestone for the brand as it continues its transition into the electric era. Positioned as a mid-size electric SUV, the CX-6e blends striking design, strong performance and advanced technology, while staying true to Mazda’s long-standing focus on driver engagement and thoughtful engineering. At the heart of the CX-6e is a 78 kWh battery paired with a rear-mounted electric motor. This setup delivers 258 PS and 290 Nm of instant torque to the rear wheels, giving the CX-6e a smooth yet responsive driving character. Mazda says the car has been developed to deliver its signature Jinba Ittai feeling, the sense of harmony between car and driver, now translated into a fully electric format.

Performance figures are well suited to everyday driving. The CX-6e accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 185 km/h. More importantly for daily use, it offers a WLTP driving range of up to 484 kilometres, providing reassurance for longer journeys as well as commuting. Charging times are equally competitive, with DC fast charging of up to 195 kW allowing a 10 to 80 percent recharge in around 24 minutes. For home charging, the onboard charger supports 11 kW three-phase AC charging via a standard Type 2 connection. Inside, Mazda has focused on creating a clean, modern and highly connected cabin. The centrepiece is a wide 26-inch touchscreen that spans the dashboard, offering a dual-split layout that can display navigation, vehicle information and media without overwhelming the driver. A large head-up display projects key information onto the windscreen, including navigation guidance, helping drivers keep their eyes on the road.

The CX-6e also introduces intuitive control features such as gesture control, allowing drivers to quickly access saved routes or music with simple hand movements. Multilingual voice recognition, supporting nine languages, responds to natural commands for tasks like adjusting the climate control, opening windows or searching for destinations. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, while Mazda’s own smartphone app adds remote functions such as battery management and Bluetooth key sharing. Safety is a major focus for the CX-6e, particularly for family buyers. Every model comes equipped with nine airbags and an extensive network of cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors. These support a full suite of driver assistance systems, including Smart Brake Support, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring. Together, they are designed to enhance awareness and provide confidence in a wide range of driving conditions.

Design plays a central role in the CX-6e’s appeal. Mazda describes its look as “Soulful Futuristic Modern”, an evolution of the brand’s Kodo design language for the electric age. The long wheelbase and short overhangs give the SUV a strong stance while disguising its practicality. Boot space measures 468 litres, expanding to 1,434 litres with the rear seats folded, making it suitable for both everyday use and longer trips. Inside, the cabin draws inspiration from the Japanese concept of Ma, the beauty of space and simplicity. The result is a light, airy interior with generous room for passengers. Buyers can choose from three interior colour schemes, including Warm Beige or Black in Takumi models, and a striking two-tone Amethyst and White finish in the Takumi Plus.

Blending Japanese craftsmanship, elegant design and modern electric technology, the Mazda CX-6e represents a confident step forward for the brand. It is scheduled to arrive in European dealerships from summer 2026, alongside the newly revealed CX-5, as Mazda continues to expand and refine its SUV range for the years ahead.
