The all-new Mazda CX-5 has been awarded the maximum five-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests, reaffirming Mazda’s commitment to advanced safety and driver assistance technologies. The CX-5 achieved exceptional scores across all categories, including 90% for Adult Occupant protection, 89% for Child Occupant protection, 93% for Vulnerable Road Users and 83% for Safety Assist performance. These results highlight Mazda’s focus on technologies that support the driver and enhance overall confidence and enjoyment behind the wheel.
Adult Occupant protection was highly rated thanks to a stable passenger compartment in the frontal offset test and strong knee and femur protection. Key body areas recorded good or adequate protection in all major crash scenarios, including full-width, side barrier and the demanding side pole test. Far-side performance benefited from controlled occupant movement and an effective centre airbag, while whiplash protection was rated excellent in both front and rear seats. The model also performed well in scenarios involving submersion, with proven door and window operability.
The CX-5 also excelled in Child Occupant protection, earning top points for both the six- and ten-year-old dummies in frontal and side impact tests. Mazda’s automatic passenger airbag deactivation and compatibility with a wide range of child restraint systems further strengthened the score, supported by an indirect child presence alert.
In the Vulnerable Road Users category, the CX-5 achieved a remarkable 93% rating. The vehicle provided strong head and lower-body protection and delivered excellent results with its autonomous emergency braking system, which detects pedestrians and cyclists from multiple angles and performed particularly well in reversing and “dooring” situations. Full points were awarded for motorcyclist protection.
A comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems supported the CX-5’s 83% Safety Assist rating. Effective autonomous emergency braking, lane support, speed assistance, driver monitoring and enhanced cruise control systems worked together to deliver robust real-world protection. New and improved features, including Smart Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring, Driver Emergency Assist and an enhanced 360° View Monitor, further elevate safety and convenience.
