Kia Ireland has unveiled the all-new K4 Hatchback to Irish motoring media at a recent launch event in Wicklow, introducing a striking new contender that cleverly bridges the gap between the traditional C- and D-segments. With its bold proportions and confident stance, the K4 reflects Kia’s distinctive ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy while delivering the space, refinement and technology that modern Irish drivers increasingly expect. Measuring 4,440mm in length and 1,850mm in width, the K4 has the road presence of a larger car, yet remains practical and easy to live with. Step inside and the sense of space is immediately apparent. Rear passengers benefit from an impressive 964mm of legroom and generous headroom of 973mm, making it one of the roomiest cabins in its class. A 328-litre boot behind the rear seats ensures the K4 is well suited to family life, commuting or spontaneous weekend escapes.
Visually, the K4 makes a strong first impression. Its sleek, floating roofline flows neatly into the rear hatch, giving the car a sporty yet elegant profile. Signature Star Map lighting, inspired by Kia’s EV9, creates a distinctive light signature front and rear, while hidden rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar add to the clean, modern aesthetic. At launch, Irish customers can choose from a 1.0-litre T-GDI mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 115 PS, paired with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A more powerful 1.6 GDI hybrid version with 154 PS is due to join the line-up before year end, offering an even more efficient option. We had the opportunity to take the K4 for a short drive around the seaside town of Bray in County Wicklow, and first impressions were very positive. The 1.0-litre MHEV engine feels more than capable in everyday conditions, even with three adults on board. Power delivery is smooth and progressive, making it an easy, relaxed car to drive through town traffic and along coastal roads. It was also refreshing to row through the gears again using a proper three-pedal manual setup. At a time when much of what we drive day-to-day is electric or automatic, the manual transmission added a welcome layer of engagement. Rear legroom proved plentiful too, with adult passengers comfortably accommodated in the back during our spin.

Beyond its dynamic styling, the K4 places a strong emphasis on comfort and composure. Kia’s European engineering team has extensively fine-tuned the chassis to suit local roads, resulting in a car that feels intuitive and balanced from the first drive. Revised springs, anti-roll bars, dampers and engine mounts contribute to a smoother, more settled ride, while a direct steering ratio delivers sharp, confident responses through bends. The overall effect is a hatchback that feels secure and refined on longer journeys yet remains agile and engaging when the road begins to twist. In Ireland, the K4 is offered in three well-equipped trims. The entry-level K2 (Slightly confusing naming Trim levels with a K also) model starts from €31,500 and comes generously specified with Kia’s striking triple panoramic display setup, combining a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 5.3-inch climate control display and 12.3-inch digital driver cluster. Standard features also include 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors front and rear, heated front seats and steering wheel, LED headlights, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates and a comprehensive suite of safety systems.
Stepping up to the K3, priced from €34,000, adds 17-inch alloys, vegan leather upholstery, black and chrome exterior detailing, cube projection LED headlights, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, electrically adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, wireless phone charging and rear privacy glass. At the top of the range, the GT-Line from €38,500 enhances the experience further with Digital Key 2.0, driver memory seat, advanced driver assistance upgrades, a glass sunroof, distinctive GT-Line styling, Highway Driving Assist 2, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, plus ventilated front and heated rear seats. Available in seven exterior colours, including two non-metallic options, the all-new K4 is now arriving in Kia dealerships nationwide and available for test drives. For Irish buyers seeking space, style and next-generation in-car technology in one well-rounded package, the K4 makes a compelling new statement.
