SJM Theodore Racing has clinched the 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia (LSTA) championship with one round to spare, marking a dominant season in which the team never finished lower than second. The Macau-based squad, backed by SJM Resorts, secured the title at Sepang, Malaysia, after another strong performance from drivers Charles Leong and Ireland’s Alex Denning.

In race two at Sepang, the No. 32 Lamborghini Huracán started from pole but slipped to fourth before staging a determined fightback. Leong, weakened by food poisoning, drove the opening stint conservatively, focusing on tyre management and ensuring a safe points finish. After the mandatory stop on lap 12, Denning took over and quickly closed on the top three. A late safety car bunched the field, setting up a dramatic three-lap sprint to the finish. Denning charged through, snatching second place on the penultimate lap to secure his tenth podium in as many races this season.

That result sealed the teams’ championship for Theodore Racing and kept both Leong and Denning level at the top of the drivers’ standings heading into the season finale in Misano, Italy, which also hosts the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals in November. The team now approaches the last two races with its primary objective achieved, free to focus on extending its unbroken streak of podium finishes.

Post-race, Denning praised the team and his sponsors, noting how consistency had replaced the reliability struggles of earlier years. Leong highlighted the flawless teamwork that delivered the championship, crediting strategy, tyre management, and execution throughout the season. Team managing director David Kennedy lauded both drivers—particularly Leong’s resilience while unwell—and emphasized the collective effort behind the success, from mechanics to strategists, in overcoming fierce competition and unpredictable conditions.

The title reinforces Theodore Racing’s place in Asian motorsport and strengthens Macau’s profile as a global racing hub, aligning with SJM’s broader mission to use motorsport as a cultural showcase. As the first Chinese team ever to compete in Formula 1 and with multiple Macau Grand Prix victories, Theodore Racing carries a storied legacy. Founded in the 1970s by Teddy Yip, the team fielded entries across Formula 1, IndyCar, Formula 2, and Can-Am, famously winning the inaugural Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix with Ayrton Senna in 1983. Revived by Teddy Yip Jr. in 2008, the team has since returned to prominence, especially at Macau, in partnership with PREMA Racing.

Leong and Denning embody this tradition of developing young talent. Leong, a double Macau Formula 4 Grand Prix winner, rose through Formula Renault, F4, and Formula 3 before proving his versatility in sportscars. Denning, a former Irish karting champion and British Mini Challenge JCW Rookie winner, has added GT4 success in Europe to his résumé. Together, they have spearheaded Theodore Racing’s second season in Super Trofeo Asia with extraordinary consistency.

The 12-race LSTA format, featuring two 50-minute, two-driver races per round, awards points across PRO, PRO-AM, AM, and Lamborghini Cup classes. With two races left, both Theodore drivers remain in contention for individual glory, but the team’s collective triumph is already assured—another historic milestone for the iconic Theodore name.
