Cedar Motors proudly celebrated a landmark moment in Irish motoring with the official launch of Alpine at Mondello Park introducing the iconic French performance marque to Irish roads for the very first time. Founded in 1955 by Jean Rédélé, Alpine’s DNA is deeply rooted in motorsport particularly in rallying and Formula 1 disciplines that continue to influence its engineering philosophy to this day. After being revitalised under the Renault Group in 2018, Alpine has seamlessly fused its racing pedigree with cutting-edge technology to create modern road cars that offer both emotion and innovation.
At the core of this launch were two standout models that perfectly capture Alpine’s dual spirit of sharp engineering and forward-thinking innovation. First, we took to the track to the sublime Alpine A110, a lightweight two-seater sports car, which was only too happy to showcase its agility around the national circuit. This machine certainly pays homage to the legendary Berlinette with a modern twist boasting a mid-engine layout, ultra-lightweight chassis, and razor-sharp handling that delivers plenty of smiles per gallon!
Then came the Alpine A290, the first fully electric Alpine, brings the brand’s motorsport spirit into a bold, compact hatchback. Designed for everyday performance with zero emissions, it’s an exhilarating drive for those who value both sustainability and fun behind the wheel. We had the chance to drive through the scenic Kildare countryside and it certainly impressed with its balance of heritage-inspired design, blistering performance, and advanced electric technology. It’s not hard to see why it was recently crowned European Car of the Year 2025. With pricing from €36,690 (including SEAI grant), the A290 offers an accessible entry point into Alpine ownership delivering premium performance and stunning design at a decent price point.
The introduction of Alpine to Ireland marks a bold new chapter for Cedar Motors Distribution, the company behind well-established brands such as Renault, Dacia, and Nissan in Ireland.
“This expansion reflects Cedar Motors’ commitment to broadening the Irish automotive landscape with brands that offer not only quality and reliability, but also character, excitement, and innovation,” said Seamus Morgan, Managing Director of Cedar Motors.
Starting 1st July, customers can visit the Alpine Pop-Up Store at Dundrum Town Centre, where the range will be on display in this stunning location. Test drives and vehicle purchases will be available through Windsor Motormall in North Dublin who are Alpine’s official retail and service partner in Ireland. This year also marks Alpine’s 70th anniversary, a fitting moment for its Irish launch. Looking to the future, Alpine has ambitious plans for its fully electric “Dream Garage” a line-up of seven all-electric models by 2030. Among them is the upcoming A390, a 470 bhp electric Sport Fastback, set to arrive in Ireland in 2026. These next-generation models will carry Alpine’s signature DNA but aim to blend zero-emissions driving with performance, emotion, and unmistakable design.
Whether you’re a motorsport enthusiast, an EV early adopter, or simply a driver looking for something distinct from the mainstream, Alpine represents a compelling new option in the Irish market. It somehow combines that rich heritage with a vision for a more thrilling, sustainable automotive future.
