Mazda has revealed the all-new CX-5, a bold update of its best-selling SUV. Launching in Europe from late 2025, this third-generation model offers a fresh design, smart technology, and a more powerful 2.5-litre petrol engine all at great value. The new CX-5 keeps the familiar shape of the current model but updates Mazda’s elegant “Kodo – Soul of Motion” design and adds the latest Skyactiv technology, first seen in the original 2012 version.
Inside, tech and comfort have taken a big step forward. The cabin features a large 12.9- or 15.6-inch touchscreen with easy, smartphone-like controls. For the first time in a Mazda, the CX-5 comes with Google built-in, offering apps like Google Maps and Google Play directly on the screen. A 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and simple steering wheel buttons keep the key info clear, and higher trim levels come with a premium 12-speaker Bose sound system.
Built under the theme “Wearable Gear,” the new CX-5 has a sportier look, improved balance on the road, and more space inside thanks to a longer wheelbase. It’s designed to handle both city driving and outdoor getaways with ease. It’s also more family-friendly, with 61 litres of extra boot space, wider rear doors, and flexible 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats for carrying more gear.
The cabin is clean, stylish, and practical. Premium materials and a wraparound dashboard create a driver-focused yet family-comfortable feel. Top models add a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting. Four trim levels are available, Prime-Line, Centre-Line, Exclusive-Line, and Homura, each with unique interior finishes, including leather and suede-style options.
Under the bonnet is a 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv G petrol engine paired with Mazda’s 24V mild hybrid system, offering smoother acceleration and better efficiency. It replaces the previous 2.0-litre unit and produces 141 PS and 238 Nm of torque, with 0–100 km/h in 10.5 seconds (FWD version).
The new CX-5 comes in front- or all-wheel drive, and updates to the chassis and suspension provide a more comfortable, stable ride. It can also tow up to 2,000 kg, making it ready for active lifestyles. Packed with advanced safety features, the CX-5 is targeting a top 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Pricing in Ireland starts at €39,965, with pre-sales beginning October 1st, 2025. It arrives in showrooms from December 2025, depending on the market.
