MG owners and enthusiasts from across Ireland are being invited to celebrate more than 100 years of one of motoring’s most recognisable marques at the upcoming MG Heritage Day in Co. Kildare. Taking place on Saturday, 5th September at Fitzpatrick’s MG Motor Centre at Junction 13, Kildare Village, the event will bring together MGs from across the decades for a celebration of the British brand’s long and colourful history.
Entry to the event is free, with all MG models welcome, whether they are pristine concours classics, cherished weekend cars, everyday drivers or ongoing restoration projects. With three acres of dedicated display space available, organisers are hoping to attract a significant gathering of MGs spanning the brand’s history, from early sports cars and much-loved classics through to the latest generation of modern MG models.
Dedicated display parking will be available for participating cars, while drivers will receive complimentary coffee on arrival. Owners will also have an opportunity to access classic MG technical support and restoration expertise from Lyons Garages, with specialists on hand to discuss the maintenance, preservation and restoration of older MG models.
Prizes will also be presented for some of the best-turned-out cars attending on the day. While MG Heritage Day will celebrate the brand’s past, visitors will also get an opportunity to see where MG is heading next. A selection of the latest MG models will be on display, including the fully electric MG Cyberster.
Developed as a modern interpretation of the traditional MG roadster, the Cyberster combines open-top two-seat motoring with an all-electric powertrain and represents a very different chapter in the company’s history. The event is being positioned as a relaxed family day out for MG owners, enthusiasts and anyone with an interest in classic and modern cars.
MG traces its roots back to the 1920s and has become synonymous with affordable sports cars, with models such as the MGA, MGB and Midget helping to build an enthusiastic following around the world. Today, the MG name has been reinvented around a new generation of petrol, hybrid and electric vehicles, making the Heritage Day an opportunity to bring both eras of the brand together.
MG Heritage Day takes place at Fitzpatrick’s MG Motor Centre, Junction 13 Kildare Village, Co. Kildare, R51 T920, on Saturday, 5th September from 10.00am until 3.00pm. Admission is free and MG owners are encouraged to bring their cars along and become part of the display.
