At the elegant surroundings of Marlfield House, DS Automobiles chose a fitting venue to introduce two important new models to the Irish motoring press. Despite wet and windy weather that would test any new car, both the all-new DS N°8 and DS N°4 made a strong first impression, showing the French brand’s growing confidence in the premium market. The standout of the day was undoubtedly the DS N°8. This new flagship arrives as a fully electric SUV coupé and immediately turns heads with its dramatic styling. Low, sleek and sharply sculpted, it looks unlike anything else currently on Irish roads. Signature lighting details, a distinctive illuminated grille and clean flowing lines give it genuine road presence. Even parked among the manicured surroundings of Marlfield House, it drew attention from every angle.

Inside, the DS N°8 continues to impress. The cabin has a lounge-like atmosphere, finished with rich materials including soft-touch surfaces, premium leather and Alcantara. DS has clearly focused on comfort, and it shows. Heated, cooled and massaging seats are available, while features such as the DS Neck Warmer add an extra touch of luxury for colder mornings. A panoramic glass roof helps create a bright and airy feel, while the generous 620-litre boot adds practicality to the glamour. Technology is another strong point. A large 16-inch central touchscreen is paired with a digital instrument display and head-up display, giving the interior a thoroughly modern feel. On the road, the DS N°8 felt composed and refined over rough surfaces, with the brand’s Active Scan Suspension helping smooth out imperfections. It is exactly the kind of comfort-focused setup Irish buyers will appreciate.

Three electric powertrains will be offered, ranging from 230hp to a range-topping 350hp all-wheel-drive version. Most impressive is the claimed maximum range of up to 750km, which places the DS N°8 among the most capable electric cars in its class. Fast charging can also add up to 200km of range in just ten minutes. Prices start from €59,995 before grants. Alongside the flagship sat the new DS N°4, a premium hatchback that should appeal to buyers looking for something distinctive in a more compact package. Smartly proportioned and stylishly detailed, it carries the same strong design language as its larger sibling, with a bold front end and elegant profile.

The cabin again majors on craftsmanship, with neat detailing and quality finishes throughout. Rear passenger space is impressive, while boot capacity of up to 430 litres in hybrid form makes it practical for everyday use. The driving experience is equally polished, combining comfort with tidy handling and a quiet cabin. Irish punters will be able to choose between a 145hp mild hybrid and a fully electric E-TENSE model producing 213hp with a range of up to 450km. The hybrid will likely prove popular here, while the EV broadens the appeal further. Prices begin at €35,995.

DS says these arrivals mark a new era for the brand in Ireland, and after sampling both in Wexford it is easy to see why. The N°4 is stylish, comfortable and well judged, but the real star is the N°8. With striking looks, a luxurious cabin and impressive range, it feels like a genuine statement car and one that could put DS firmly on the radar of Irish premium buyers!
