Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that cumulative global production and sales of the Mazda CX-5 have surpassed five million units as of the end of 2025. This achievement makes the CX-5 the third Mazda model to reach the five-million-unit mark, following the Mazda 323 and the Mazda3. Among Mazda vehicles that fully embody the brand’s Skyactiv Technology and “Kodo – Soul of Motion” design philosophy, the CX-5 has reached this milestone in the shortest time, underlining its global appeal and enduring popularity.
Since its launch, the CX-5 has been sold in more than 100 countries and regions worldwide, continuing to resonate with customers as Mazda’s core crossover SUV. It has earned widespread recognition for its combination of vibrant, sporty design and an engaging yet effortless driving experience. Production of the first-generation CX-5 began at Mazda’s Ujina Plant No. 2 in 2011. Since then, manufacturing has expanded to Ujina Plant No. 1, the Hofu Plant, and facilities in China, while local assembly has also taken place in Malaysia and Vietnam. This global production footprint has supported the CX-5’s rise to become the best-selling model in Mazda’s current line-up.
The all-new CX-5 was unveiled in Europe in July 2025, marking the next chapter for the model. Following its European debut, the new CX-5 is scheduled to launch in North America and Japan in spring 2026.
