The Porsche Macan T is now available and combines a powerful 265 PS turbocharged, four-cylinder engine with a tailored specification that celebrates the benchmark dynamics of the compact SUV. It is the first four-door sports car from the Stuttgart marque to wear the special designation. Traditionally, “T” stands for “Touring” in the Porsche model lexicon and has been synonymous with driving performance since the 1960s. The Macan T will be immediately at home along winding country roads, its unique chassis configuration further amplifying the typical Porsche qualities of responsiveness and agility.

The distinct character of the Macan T is highlighted by its athletic, lowered stance and dark titanium coloured 20-inch diameter alloy wheels. The interior of the car also has its own unique ambience, featuring black leather and Sport-Tex Stripe upholstery. The new model sits between the Macan and the Macan S in the model range.

The 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine of the Macan T combines responsiveness, low mass and a compact architecture to create a package that offers an ideal balance of weight and performance. Compared to the 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine in the Macan S and GTS models, the powertrain in the Macan T is 58.8 kg lighter on the front axle. This improves acceleration off the line and benefits cornering ability.

The Macan T engine has an output of 265 PS (195 kW) and 400 Nm of torque – characteristics that complement the character of the car and deliver an exhilarating drive. A broad spread of torque provides responsive acceleration in all driving situations.

The engine is coupled with a fast-shifting seven-speed dual clutch transmission (PDK) and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system. The standard Sport Chrono Package, featuring the mode switch and Sport Response button on the steering wheel, can see the Macan T accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.2 seconds and where permitted reach a top speed of 144 mph. Combined fuel consumption is 26.4-28.0 mpg, equivalent to 229-242 g/km CO2.

The Macan T sits on steel sprung suspension, lowered by 15 mm, combined with the electronically controlled Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), a unique arrangement. The anti-roll bars on the front axle are stiffer and the overall chassis tuning has been optimised for the specific vehicle and powertrain combination, resulting in agile handling and very responsive steering behaviour. The Porsche Traction Management (PTM) has also been adapted to the focus of the Macan T and is specially designed with a bias to the rear axle to further emphasise driving enjoyment.

Customers can choose the option of adaptive air suspension with PASM which in turn lowers the body by a further 10 mm – a new feature for Macan models with four-cylinder engines. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) can also be added: the system has been adapted to the dynamic characteristics of the T model and further sharpens the driving dynamics, particularly through bends.

Design elements painted in Agate Grey Metallic differentiate the Macan T from other models. The exclusive contrast colour highlights the painted front trim, exterior mirrors, side blades, roof spoiler and logos on the rear. Sports tailpipes and side window trims in Black (high gloss) are standard features, together with side blades featuring the ‘Macan T’ logo in Black. The car rides on 20-inch diameter Macan S wheels, exclusively painted in dark titanium entirely.  Customers can additionally choose from a range of 13 solid, metallic and special exterior colours.

The character of the Macan T is also highlighted throughout the interior. The eight-way electrically adjustable heated sports seats feature exclusive upholstery based on the Black leather package. The centre sections of the front seats and the outer rear seats feature a Sport-Tex Stripe pattern and the front seat headrests each have an embossed Porsche crest. In addition, the contrasting colour theme from the exterior continues inside in the form of decorative silver stitching on the seats, headrests and steering wheel.

Standard equipment also includes a multi-function GT heated sports steering wheel and the Sport Chrono stopwatch in the upper part of the dashboard. The door entry guards are black aluminium and feature the ‘Macan T’ logo.

The interior naturally shares many stylish features with the Macan range, such as a fully-connected Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a 10.9-inch touch screen and online satellite navigation as standard and a centre console with sophisticated glass-look and touch-sensitive control surfaces.

The new Porsche Macan T is on sale today from Porsche Centres in the UK and Ireland. First deliveries will begin in the Spring. Customers will also be invited to explore the potential of the new car, and further develop their own skills behind the wheel, by participating in a bespoke driving experience around the unique tracks at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone.
