We’ve previously driven the stylish Jaguar XF saloon http://www.rev.ie/jaguar-xf-2-2d/ which we admire. Now, Jaguar has introduced a new estate variant, the XF Sportbrake. The XF has certainly had a successful start, with Jaguar Ireland’s sales seeing an impressive 61 per cent increase in 2012. Further a field, the Jaguar Land Rover group has seen their sales growth in China increase over 80 per cent. Back in Ireland the group’s market share has risen from 5.4 per cent in 2009 to a very healthy 8.9 per cent in 2012.

The introduction of the XF Sportbrake to Jaguar’s model line-up will no doubt aid their increasing sales figures. It’s available in Ireland now, with prices commencing from €47,220 for the 2.2-litre diesel SE variant with 163hp. There’s also a 200hp variant of this economical diesel engine. The XF Sportbrake is available across four trim specifications, SE, Luxury, Premium Luxury and Portfolio. All models come equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. The entry-level SE variant comes with a high level of equipment, this includes HID Bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, keyless start, rear parking aid, 7” colour touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity, 17” alloys, cruise control, climate control, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats and a satin American walnut veneer. In this regard the XF Sportbrake scores highly over some of its German competitors offering value for money.

On the road the XF Sportbrake is composed and agile, we had a brief drive around twisty country roads where it demonstrated competent handling. The interior is a place of luxury, spending hours behind the wheel of an XF Sportbrake would be a joy, not a chore. There is plenty of space for your luggage, with 1,675 litres of load space on offer. The standard-fit rear air suspension makes for a comfortable ride for rear seat occupants.

We are fond of the XF Sportbrake for its sleek and modern lines, coupled with a superior engine line-up and excellent drive experience. We’ll bring you a full review on the car after our extended test drive. In the meantime if you require any further details on the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake please visit www.jaguar.ie
