The sale of one of Wicklow’s top motor dealerships is one of the county’s most significant business acquisitions of 2020. Sinnott Autos Ltd. of Wicklow Town has retained the Volkswagen franchise since 1987 and the ŠKODA brand since 2010. Sinnott Autos are also Authorised Repairers for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Established by Paul and John Sinnott under the guidance of their father Jimmy Sinnott, the business has established itself as one of the regions premier motor dealerships employing 34 staff members.
The Volkswagen brand has been the best-selling car brand in Wicklow since 2018, whilst the ŠKODA Brand has achieved the fifth ranking. Sinnott Autos has been synonymous with the local community supporting sports, cultural and social events such as the Taste of Wicklow and Wicklow Regatta Festival. Trinity Motor Group has acquired both sites located on the Dublin Road for an undisclosed sum. Trinity Motor Group was established in 1995 by Edward Murphy with four family members active in the business today. With five well-known motor franchises, Trinity has a wealth of experience in the motor sector.

The Sinnott family will continue other business interests in Wicklow. The transition to Trinity Motor Group will commence from 4th January 2021. Customers who have ordered new or used vehicles or who have booked servicing and maintenance will be unaffected by the transition. Sinnott Autos Ltd has made it a priority to give back to the community by sponsorships, endorsements and partaking in locally organised events such as the Taste of Wicklow & Wicklow Regatta festival.
