Mazda launched the new generation Mazda3 in 2014, and it was immediately a huge success in the C segment thanks to its cool KODO design and impressive SKYACTIV technology. The Mazda3 was initially launched with a 1.5 SKYACTIV petrol engine or a 2.2 SKYACTIV diesel engine. To cater to the growing demand and determined to expand the product range, Mazda have now introduced a 1.5 diesel engine to the Mazda3 line-up. The 1.5 SKYACTIV-D engine has been available in both the CX-3 and Mazda2 and has proven to be the key choice for drivers in the CX-3. With only 99g/km of CO2 emissions Mazda3 drivers will enjoy the benefit of even lower tax of €180 per annum with the emissions falling into tax band A2. Thanks to the SKYACTIV technology Mazda have been able to achieve an ever impressive 74.3mpg (3.8 litres/100km) yet deliver a proud 105ps of power. The addition of the super-efficient 1.5 diesel engine to the Mazda3 range now gives customers even more choice and savings in fuel and tax costs without compromising in a fun sporty drive.
Managing Director Tony Howarth comments: “Mazda3 is our bestselling model and we currently offer the car in hatchback and saloon, with manual and automatic transmissions and a choice of 2.2 SKYACTIV diesel or 1.5 SKYACTIV petrol engines. The 2.2 diesel has been very successful for us as it offers a no compromise solution with strong performance and market leading emissions and economy in its segment. This new 1.5 SKYACTIV-D engine currently used in the Mazda2 and Mazda CX-3 offers our most efficient engine and I believe this car will attract more buyers to Mazda3 who feel more comfortable with a smaller capacity engine. We aim to sell all three engines and feel that we will see Mazda3 sales grow further as a result of offering another option to the range. We are predicting strong growth in the brand next year and this will be a key model for us in Ireland.”
