Renault Group Ireland has enjoyed its most successful January to date, finishing the month in third position with 10.1% share of the combined car and van markets and almost 4,000 units sold. This was achieved in a market that decreased by 13.1% versus January 2018. Both Renault and Dacia performed exceptionally well in a car market that was down 12.6% in volume. Renault achieved a 6.8% share in the car market, up from 6.2% last year, while shockingly affordable Dacia took 2.8%, up from 2.6% last year. The SUV segment continues to grow, now representing over 49% of the passenger car market and over 1 in 3 cars in Ireland is now a C-SUV, up 5.4% from last year. The recently launched All-New Dacia Duster combined with the facelifted Renault KADJAR ensured an almost 10% share for the Group in this busy segment.

In the competitive B-SUV segment, the ever-popular Renault Captur retained its number two podium position. The stylish Renault Clio took third position in the B segment for January and was the best-selling small car in Dublin and Cork. The striking Scénic family was the star performer in the C-MPV market, taking the number one spot with a whopping 25% market share for the five-seater Scénic and seven-seater Grand Scénic. In the growing EV market, the zero-emissions Renault ZOE finished on the podium as the number three electric car in January, in a segment now representing 2.5% of the overall market, up from 1% for the full year 2018. Renault Group finished the month with a share of 13.1% in the competitive LCV market, taking its place firmly on the podium in third position. Master was the number one large van, while Trafic retained the number two spot in the medium van market.

Westmeath was Renault’s best performing county for both passenger cars and LCV, with its market shares taking 11.26% and an impressive 26.04% respectively. Carlow was the top seller for Dacia at 8.54% share. January saw Renault Bank lend €30 million to Renault customers, which is in line with 2018 levels despite a reduction in the market. This was driven by lower interest rates and an increase in customer retention.
There are over 30,000 PCP agreements in the market due to finish in 2019. PCP continues to be a topic of conversation and Renault’s new website, www.mypcp.ie confirms this with over 15,000 people visiting the new website in January searching for answers to their questions in relation to PCP. The website is designed to inform motorists about the pros and cons of PCP. Renault Bank continues to increase its portfolio of products, launching Key Insurance to the market in January.

Renault Group has highly competitive offers for February across Renault cars, LCV and Dacia, available on all orders taken and registered before 28th February 2019. These complete offers, available through Renault Bank, are designed to deliver real value by lowering the cost of vehicle ownership and providing real savings to customers.
