The mid-engine, two-seat Porsche 718 models with 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engines can now be ordered with the seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK). Supporting wider customer choice, the option combines on the one hand high performance gear shifting functionality for the fastest circuit lap times, with highly efficient operation for everyday use.

Both the Cayman and Boxster 718 GTS 4.0 variants, as well as the motorsport-inspired 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 models, are available with the Porsche-developed automatic transmission. With PDK, there are no interruptions in acceleration during gear changes. This increases the comfort of the gear shifts and improves acceleration.

In comparison with 718 models featuring the standard manual transmission, the 420 PS GT models – the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 ¬– now accelerate from 0-62 mph half a second faster, in 3.9 secs. Where permitted, they can reach 124 mph in 13.4 secs (0.4 secs faster).

The 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and 718 Boxster GTS 4.0, both with 400 PS, also improve on the standard sprint from 0-62 mph by half a second to 4.0 secs, and then reach the 124 mph (200 km/h) benchmark in 13.7 secs (0.4 secs quicker).

The WLTP Combined fuel consumption for the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 with PDK and 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 with PDK is 28.0 mpg (10.1 l/100 km), equivalent to 230 g/km CO2 Combined. When specified with the PDK, the WLTP Combined fuel consumption for the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder is 26.4 mpg (10.7 l/100 km) equivalent to 242 g/km CO2 Combined.

The PDK transmission option includes a Launch Control function. On the GT models, a lap trigger and Track Precision App is also included. Customers will also be invited to explore the potential of their new car, and further develop their own skills behind the wheel, by participating in a bespoke driving experience around the unique tracks at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone.
