Mazda have recently announced a number of sustainably targeted initiatives to help achieve carbon neutrality by the year 2050. Factories will be carbon neutral by the year 2035 by focusing on energy conservation, renewable energies and introducing carbon-neutral fuels. A product line up with further electrification will also assist in achieving the target by reducing CO2 emissions and improving fuel economy. Due for launch withing the 2022 year, three new electrified models will join the Mazda range.

Landing in showrooms from September, exclusively as a plug-in-hybrid from launch, the all new Mazda CX-60 will take the torch as the new flagship SUV within the range. Starting at €51,300 for the entry PRIME-LINE grade, the CX-60 will be available in a total of four grades. Priced at €53,300, the EXCLUSIVE-LINE grade will add additional features such as heated leather seats, projected head up display and a rear camera with front parking sensors.

Two top grades will share the same equipment levels such as a 12-speaker BOSE sound system, seat ventilation and an advanced driver personalisation system, but differ by two contrasting design themes. The HOMURA grade features 20” black alloys, black leather and a black signature grille creating a sporty look. The TAKUMI grade features white nappa leather, 20” machine cut alloys and a chrome signature wing. The HOMURA grade is priced at €56,550 with the TAKUMI grade starting at €58,150. There will be additional option packs available on each grade to allow customers wider choice on what specifications will suit their needs.

The Mazda2 Hybrid will join the line-up, offering a self-charging hybrid powertrain for the first time. Featuring a 0.76kW battery, the Mazda2 Hybrid will be capable of driving in full electric mode for short distances without the need to plug into charge points. Priced from €23,995 the Mazda2 Hybrid will return a fuel economy of 3.8-4.0 l/ 100km.

For customers interested in pure electric only, the Mazda MX-30 has received its first update since launch. Charging times have been significantly reduced getting drivers back on the road quicker. Fast charging at DC chargers of 50kW or more will charge the battery from 20% to 80% in 26 minutes. A new 11kW On-board charger will speed up AC charging on capable 3-phase chargers to a reduced time of 1 hour and 50 minutes. The upgrades will also give customers new design choices. An exclusive dark interior trim ‘Urban Expression’ features dark cloth and black vegan-friendly leather alternative. Zircon Sand metallic paint will also be available for the first time, finished with a black roof. For 2022, the updated Mazda MX-30 is available from €32,443 after grants and VRT relief.
