FIAT Professional is broadening the appeal of the 2011 International Van of the Year with an all-new derivative the likes of which has been built by a mainstream manufacturer before.

The new FIAT Doblò Work Up is a new, compact ‘dropside’ vehicle which has been designed to meet the needs of urban-based operators, merging the versatility of a pickup with the low purchase price and running costs of a lightweight commercial vehicle. This also negates the need for operators to buy a chassis cab and then have it converted to a pickup separately making the new FIAT Doblò Work Up a unique turn-key solution.

The factory-built load box is 2.30m long and 1.82m wide (total area 4.2 m²) and is made of high-strength steel with a multi-layer wood floor treated with an anti-slip coating. The sides are made from aluminium alloy with fully-integrated, flush-fitting latches and retractable steps to make accessing the load box safe and easy.

There are additional steps integrated into the bodywork on both sides of the Doblò Work Up and there’s even a lockable, under-floor compartment for stowing a variety of items including awkward tools such as brushes and shovels. The bulkhead includes a ladder rack and a sturdy protective grille to protect the rear window of the cab, and there are also numerous integrated hooks for securing loads to the floor. With a payload of up to 1,000kg and a rear axle load of up to 1,450kg, the FIAT Doblò Work Up is an ideal vehicle for operators involved in construction, maintenance, engineering, landscaping or agri-business and it has been designed to accommodate three Euro pallets for added versatility.

The new FIAT Doblò Work Up is offered with a choice of three, Euro 5, MultiJet II turbo-diesel engines; a 90hp 1.3-litre; a 105hp 1.6-litre and a 135hp 2.0-litre. All three engines provide quiet and reliable service and feature fuel-saving Start & Stop and diesel particulate filters to help reduce running costs and maximise environmental friendliness.

Uniquely, the FIAT Work Up features a sophisticated multi-link rear suspension for superior comfort and handling and is available with a variety of affordable options including air conditioning, ESP stability control and Blue&Me TomTom Live2 satellite navigation.

Prices for the new FIAT Doblò Work Up 1.3 MultiJet II 90hp start at €16,318 excluding VAT (registered business customers only – normal retail pricing including VAT is €19,945), while the 1.6 MultiJet II 105hp starts at €17,393 excl. VAT (€21,245 incl. VAT) and the 2.0 MultiJet II 135hp is priced at €18,488 excl. VAT (€22,570 incl. VAT).
