Driving through the countryside in a classic sports car taking in magnificent mountain views and rugged coastlines, aromas of summer infusing the crisp air, retro sounds blasting from the stereo and the authentic driving experience of a perfect classic with the roof down – it’s a bucket list adventure. Old-fashioned road trips are trendy again. Surveys show they are on the rise and on Instagram, the hashtag #roadtrip shows up 46 million times. Now in 2019, for the first time, Cannonball Ireland are adding a Retro Cannonball sponsored by Teng Tools USA. The classic run starts in Kinsale on July 12th and takes in Healy Pass, Kenmare, Molls Gap, Inch Beach, Dingle, Slea Head, Conor Pass, Tralee and finishes at Bunratty Castle on July 13th.

“The all new Retro Cannonball Classic Run featuring cars from the 60’s,70’s, 80’s and early 90’s takes us back to our roots when the mad-cap Cannonball Movie was made” said Cannonball founder Alan Bannon “We are going all out retro and welcoming cars from this golden era to take in stunning drives and world-famous rally routes. Classic runs are a longstanding tradition steeped in nostalgia and pop culture and we want to add our own Cannonball twist to make this a truly unforgettable experience for both drivers and spectators”

Classic cars are about the experience, style, exclusivity and craftsmanship, all of which are universal and timeless. Classic cars not only appeal to car lovers, but also to lovers of engineering, design, art and history. They retain an incurable romance and that is the reason why people do, and always will, love classic cars. Add in the spectacle, heady excitement and adrenalin-fuelled festival atmosphere that Cannonball is renowned for and the traditional classic run goes up a gear. This is a road-trip planned with adventure, luxury, breath-taking scenery, unforgettable experiences and spontaneity in mind.

Cannonball Ireland is an established event management company since 2008 and has already raised €1,016,000 for Irish Charities and attracts over 190,000 spectators every September as well as international road-trips across the UK, Scotland, Europe and America. In 2019, Cannonball are proud to partner with the Irish Cancer Society. Cannonball is one of the most unique motoring fraternities in the world with breath-taking driving routes, luxurious hospitality and that rare ‘camarderie’ that makes Cannonball a truly unforgettable experience.
