With the recent introduction of the powerful 1M Coupé, it’s good to see that BMW hasn’t lost interest on the remainder of the 1 Series range. They have treated the 1 Series Coupé and Convertible models to an array of significant modifications and upgrades, which result in a more desirable and fuel efficient car.

This increased efficiency can be attributed in some way to the introduction of a new Aero Curtain, it channels the airflow around the front of the car to reduce aerodynamic drag, thereby increasing efficiency. I recently drove a 118d Sport Coupé which comes with over €1800 of additional equipment at no extra cost. This includes 17” Star-spoke alloys, a Sport multi-function steering wheel and front sports seats. The benefit of these are clear to see, the car is smart, sleek and modern and yet easily identifiable as a BMW. The 118d pushes out 143hp, it responds well to driver input with a comfortable ride, and feels planted at all times. As a result of its low emissions this new 1 Series Coupé sits in tax band A with an annual road tax of €104.  The 118d Coupé is priced from €30,050, with the convertible commencing at €35,240 also in Sport trim.
