Toyota has revealed their new FT-1 concept at today’s opening of the Detroit motor show. It’s been designed at Toyota’s Calty design studio, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The car is strikingly modern yet makes references to Toyota’s rich sports car history, going back to the 2000GT of the mid-1960s. The car features large air intakes, exhaust ports and a retractable rear wing. The engine is mounted in the front with a rear-wheel-drive configuration. The interior has a Formula 1-style steering wheel and a colour head-up display that projects key information just above the wheel. There’s been no word yet whether the FT-1 will progress from concept to reality, we certainly hope it does.
