Audi’s new range-topping A4 model the RS4 Avant is due to arrive in Ireland this coming September. It will be available to order from Audi dealerships this July with prices commencing from €102,725. At the heart of this new RS4 is a 4.2-litre V8 petrol engine that produces an impressive 450hp and 430Nm of torque from 4,000 to 6,000 rpm. This results in a 0 to 100km/h time of just 4.7 seconds, it will go on to a governed top speed of 250km/h, this can be increased to 280km/h if requested. This latest B8 generation RS4 is more economical than its predecessor with a claimed combined fuel consumption figure of 10.7l/100km. Standard fitment is Audi’s seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission complete with launch control.

The RS4’s power is transferred to the road via Audi’s Quattro permanent all-wheel drive, complete with a centre differential. There’s a default ratio of 40:60 rear-biased to provide a sporting drive. Standard fitment is Audi’s drive select programme which allows the driver to select from three driving modes, comfort, auto and dynamic. Each mode alters the steering, transmission and throttle responses. This new RS4 is 20mm longer, 24mm wider and 20mm lower than the standard A4 Avant. The interior is treated to carbon fibre inlays and heated front sports seats with integrated headrests. Also standard are 19” alloys, a flat  bottomed sports multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth, tracker preparation and an anti-theft alarm.
