Porsche will be showcasing its stunning 918 Spyder concept at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. Using unique hybrid technology the 918 Sypder concept is estimated to return an incredible 3l/100km (94mpg) on a combined run. This is all the more impressive when you consider that it produces in excess of 770hp. This power is delivered through a combination of a V8 petrol engine which delivers more than 500hp and two electric motors that will produce 218hp. Power will be transferred to the rear wheels through a seven-speed Porsche PDK twin-clutch transmission. As expected the performance capabilities will be impressive, with a 0 to 100km/h time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed capability in excess of 320 km/h. The first prototypes of the 918 Spyder are currently undergoing driving trials, production is expected to commence in September 2013 at the Porsche factory in Stuttgart, Germany. The car will have a limited run of 918 examples, all of which will be left-hand-drive, with the first deliveries due in November 2013.
