Mercedes-Benz has released details of its new SL 63 AMG sports car. This new SL 63 AMG offers higher performance and lower fuel consumption over its predecessor, with 537hp produced from its 5.5l V8 biturbo engine. It also delivers a very impressive 800Nm of torque. Customers can also opt for the AMG Performance package which increases power to 564hp and 900Nm, which results in a 0 to 100km/h time of 4.2 seconds. To aid fuel consumption the car is fitted with an ECO start/stop function, whilst the body is constructed from lightweight aluminium and carbon fibre.

This new SL 63 AMG is fitted with an enhanced version of the AMG Sports Suspension based on Active Body Control. Customers can change the damping settings from Sport to Comfort to alter the car’s suspension settings relative to their driving style. There’s a seven-speed sports automatic transmission fitted as standard, which can also be used in manual mode. The car sits on 19” multi-spoke AMG alloys, which cover the large six-piston callipers at the front.

The SL 63 AMG is easily identifiable from its AMG bodystyling with large air intakes on the front bumper, and the AMG-specific LED daytime lights. There’s two chromed twin tailpipes at the rear and a diffuser-style rear apron. Inside the SL 63 is luxurious with leather and carbon fibre detailing present. There’s also a large list of options for customers to personalise their car. The new Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG will go on sale this summer, with prices to be announced closer to the launch date.
