You’ll soon see a fleet of 20 new An Garda Síochána custom specified Opel Insignia Sports Tourers on patrol along Irish roads. The Garda Traffic Corps will use these new vehicles around the country. They are powered by a 2.0-litre CDTi BiTurbo diesel engine that produces a stern 195hp and 400Nm of torque. Commenting on the new fleet, Dave Sheeran, Managing Director, Opel Ireland said, “Opel have a vast experience in developing cars that provide surefooted performance and with the specifications that we have provided with these Insignia Sports Tourers, they are ideally equipped to support the safe and efficient patrolling of our Irish Motorways.”

The Gardaí will sit in comfort inside these Insignia Sports Tourers, they are equipped with ergonomic sports seats that feature electrically adjustable lumbar support. There is a 4.2” colour screen which displays all the trip computer’s information and climate control settings. For safer driving these Insignia’s have Opel’s FlexRide adaptive chassis system, this uses multiple sensors to adjust the dampers to suit the driving conditions. It works in conjunction with the ESP, ABS, electronic brake-force distribution and traction control systems.
