Irish Car Racing kicks back into gear this coming Sunday, March 13th, with the opening races of the season at Mondello Park.
The Mondello Park Sports Club will take charge of the ten race season opener, which will run on the County Kildare venue’s National Track. The Irish Touring Car championship will headline the event with the Procraft Tools Fiesta Championship, Future Classics, Global Light Sportscars and Legends also on the timetable.

The Irish Touring Car Championship looks set for a bumper year with former drivers returning to the championship and a number of new faces. Kevin Doran with his giant killing Honda Civic will once again take on the might of the BMW’s, with last years champion Eoin Fogarty and the returning Martin Duffy likely to be his main challengers. The ITCC will race twice at the season opener.

The Mondello Park promoted Fiesta Championship may have some new faces at the front this season with a number of drivers moving on to the new for 2016 Fiesta ST Series. The original championship for 1250cc Zetec engined cars should continue to provide plenty of entertainment and will race this year with a new title as Procraft Tools take over as the series sponsor. The Fiestas will contest their opening two rounds of 2016 at Sunday’s event.

Alongside the ITCC and Fiestas, the ever popular Future Classics class for historic saloon racing cars will have a single race while the Global Lights Sportscars will make a rare Mondello Park appearance for their season opening double header. The programme will be completed by three races for the unique, motorcycle engined, Legends Cars.

Admission to Sunday’s event is just €12.50 for adults with under sixteen’s admitted free of charge. All admission includes a complimentary event programme. For further information and a timetable see www.mondellopark.ie.
