McLaren Automotive has unveiled yet another machine to make us drool. This time its the 675LT Spider which will be strictly limited to only 500 worldwide. This of course will be the second model to wear the LT badge in over 20 years will last years launch of the 675LT Coupé. The LT versions are focused on light weight cars with enhanced aerodynamics, increased power and a hardcore track-focus. These limited-run models quickly sell out even long before the first deliveries commence. If you are lucky enough to have your name on the list then snap one up!

The 675LT Spider will be priced at nearly €400,000 plus taxes and becomes the fifth new model launched by McLaren Automotive in 2015. This latest model joins the McLaren P1 GTR, 570S Coupé and 540C Coupé, and the 675LT Coupé as new models to the Super Series range. Under the bonnet of the 675LT Spider sits the heavily revised 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 powertrain from the coupé guaranteeing performance figures to warrant the LT – or ‘Longtail’ – badge. The power stays at 666bhp delivered at 7,100rpm with 700Nm available between 5,000-6,500rpm. The changes to the powertrain saw more than 50% of the components replaced to ensure the car retained the power, torque and drivability of the coupe.

These include new, more efficient turbos, further design changes to the cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds, new camshaft and lightweight connecting rods, and a faster-flowing fuel pump and delivery system. Performance figures are still staggering with the 0-100kmh dash coming up in just 2.9 seconds, and 200kmh is hit in 8.1 seconds. The top speed will be 326km/h  which is 203mph in old money. Despite these blistering performance figures, the 675LT Spider returns 24.2mpg on the EU combined cycle, while CO2 emissions remain at 275g/km which are the same as the coupé. The three-piece retractable folding hardtop can be opened at speeds up to 30km/h and gives you that open air experience at warp speeds! This is another cracker from McLaren who are certainly on a roll!
