If you have ever fancied owning your own Ducati Moto GP bike, now’s your chance to purchase one. Ducati will auction two of its Desmosedici GP machines at RM Auctions’ 2012 Monaco sale, which takes place this May 11th & 12th at the Grimaldi Forum. The two bikes were ridden by Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi. The GP10 “CS1” was first ridden by Stoner in Sepang, Malaysia in February 2010, and he rode it for the first time in a Moto GP race at the Qatar in April 2010. During the season it logged a total of 4,232km. Rossi’s GP11 “VR2” was built in December 2010 and went on track for the first time at Sepang in February 2011. Rossi completed a total of 2,342km on this bike during the season. This really is a very rare opportunity for someone to own a piece of Moto GP history, Ducati don’t have a habit of selling off their bikes, they have a reserve on them but I’m sure they will be sold on the day.
Speaking at the announcement of the auction Peter Wallman, specialist at RM Auctions Europe commentated, “Ducati represents the pinnacle of two-wheeled desirability with a reputation for world-beating performance and unmistakable design. We are very excited to be working with yet another leading manufacturer and to have this exclusive opportunity to offer items that are not normally available to the public. The sale offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire very unique pieces of Ducati history, not to be missed.” For further information please visit www.rmauctions.com
