The 3 Series is a significant car for BMW and has been a key seller for BMW Ireland throughout the years. This new model has just gone in sale in BMW Dealerships across Ireland.

Prices commence from €35,600 for the 316d ES model, which comes with features such as 17” alloys, air conditioning, Bluetooth and cruise control as standard. These items would have been an additional extra on the previous generation 3 Series, it’s good to see them now included. All other models within the extensive range are available in a choice of four trim grades, SE, Sport, Modern and Luxury. Each grade offers diverse levels of equipment, which enables customers to personalise their individual cars. BMW have priced the grades sensibly and each one offers a decent level of equipment, with Sport and Modern grades just €1,430 over the SE grade. I would envisage that these two models in the 318d and 320d will account for the majority of sales.

This new 3 Series is larger and more spacious than its predecessor, the interior of the 320d Luxury model I drove certainly lives up to its name. Finished in black metallic with red Dakota leather, the car exudes class appeal. The 320d delivers 184hp and 380 Nm of torque, which when mated to the optional eight-speed automatic gearbox provides for an exemplary drive. Fitted as standard to all models is BMW’s drive performance control, this system lets you choose from four driving modes, ECO PRO, Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. You can maximise fuel economy in ECO PRO, whilst Sport and Sport Plus allow for a more sporty driving experience with a sensitive throttle response and enhanced engine mapping.

With the combination of BMW’s EfficientDynamics technology, coupled with an extensive specification package, this new 3 Series is undoubtedly the best yet.
